Pre-care & Aftercare Instructions

Pre-Care
Preparing for a tattoo can be an often forgotten step. It’s important, however, that you are taking extra care leading up to your appointment. Following pre-care suggestions can help during the tattoo, as well as the aftercare.
- Avoid drinking at least 48 hours before a tattoo
- Drink plenty of water the days leading up to your appointment , including day of
- Eat a full meal at least 2 hours prior to your appointment
- Moisturizing days/weeks leading up to appointment (
Prepare Your Aftercare Materials
You will need at least 3 weeks worth of:
- Unscented (fragrance free) antibacterial soap
- Unscented (fragrance free) moisturizer/tattoo balm
- Unscented (fragrance free) lotion
Product Suggestions
Most unscented (fragrance free) safe for sensitive skin soaps and moisturizers will do the trick. Here are some fan favs:
- Dr. Bronner's Unscented Baby Soap
- Fragrance Free Foaming Hand Soap - Dial
- Vitalitree Vegan Tattoo Salve
- Aquaphor
- Tegaderm - second skin post-tattoo bandage
It is recommended to patch test all products before aftercare use.
Post-Tattoo
1. Begin with freshly washed hands in a clean environment
2. Remove non-adhesive Dri-lock bandage 4-6 hours post tattoo. The longer the bandage is left on the better.
3. Gently wash your fresh tattoo under lukewarm water with your fragrance free soap
4. Air dry tattoo, or pat dry with paper towel or tissue. Do NOT use a reusable towel to dry your tattoo for the first 2-3 weeks.
5. Apply a small amount of moisturizing product like aquaphor, just enough to lightly coat your fresh tattoo! I
That's it!
Follow steps 1 & 3-5 at least 3x a day for the first two weeks. Your artist may suggest care adjustments based on how large, shaded/colored, or where your tattoo has been placed.

Post-Tattoo Cautions
- Avoid exposing your fresh tattoo to the sun for at least 3 weeks post tattoo. Sunscreen is not recommended until your tattoo has fully healed (2-3 weeks). Wear clothing to cover the area, or limit sun exposure
- No swimming, including baths, for at least 3 weeks post-tattoo
- Avoid gyms, saunas, massages, & anything that could expose your fresh tattoo to bacteria for the first few weeks of healing
- After your tattoo is healed, wear sunscreen every time you may expose your tattoo to the sun.
- Lotion & sunscreen daily to preserve longevity
